Arts in Social Contexts. Fine Arts (B.F.A.)

Think freely, experiment boldly.

In the Bachelor's programme Arts in Social Contexts with a specialisation in Fine Arts at HKS Ottersberg, you have the opportunity to develop your own artistic voice and reshape aesthetic experiences. The focus here is on creative experimentation, critical reflection and social commitment. You are encouraged to develop your own artistic concepts, try out different forms of aesthetic expression and apply them in social and cultural contexts.

If you are looking for freedom of artistic expression and wish to find your own artistic place in the world, this degree programme offers you the ideal setting to develop your creativity. You want to experiment, gain new aesthetic experiences and inspire people with your work – be it through artistic impulses or by addressing social issues. You understand art not only as individual expression, but also as a social force that can bring about change. That is why you want to purposefully incorporate creative processes into social contexts and combine artistic strategies with social commitment. You are also drawn to interdisciplinary work and to linking different disciplines in order to develop new perspectives and innovative approaches.

Here's what you can expect: Your art. Your vision. Your impact.

Immerse yourself in intensive studio work and develop individual artistic projects that shape your creative signature. Expand your understanding of art history, aesthetics and cultural theory in order to place your works in a larger context. At the same time, the programme gives you the opportunity to make your art impactful in public, social or cultural spaces and to actively inspire change in society.
